Bryan Williams
Prof. Williams is currently Professor of Medicine at the University of Leicester School of Medicine, Leicester, UK. He is also Consultant Physician, University Hospital Leicester and Consultant Physician at the Leicester Hypertension Clinic. Prof Williams has a distinguished history in hypertension research. He is internationally recognized for his recent Ascot CAFE study. He was President of the British Hypertension Society (2001 – 2003) and currently Chairman of its Information Service and National Hypertension Guidelines Working Party. He was a member of the writing committee for the last ESH Guidelines on Hypertension. He is recently appointed Chairman of the Medical Research Council’s Clinician Scientist and Career Development Panel, UK. He is a fellow and current member of the following:
- member of the hypertension specialist accreditation committee of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH)
- Member of the British Renal Association, the European Society of Hypertension, the International Society of Hypertension, and the American Diabetes Association.
- Member of the Association of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
- Fellow of the American High Blood Pressure Council and the American Heart Association
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London
Mak Koon Hou
Dr. Mak is a consultant and Interventional Cardiologist in private practice at the Singapore Gleneagles Medical Centre. Prior to this, he was both the Director of Coronary Care Unit at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Director of Clinical Trials Unit at National Heart Centre where he helped to set it up in 1999. He has written numerous books chapters and articles on hypertensive research and associated illnesses. He was awarded Public Service Commission Local Merit Scholarship to study Microbiology and Medicine at Singapore National University where he graduated with distinction in 1985. He went on to do his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at NUS and Royal College of Physicians, UK in 1999. Subsequently, Dr Mak received further training in Coronary Care and Interventional Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center and fellowships from various prestigious institutions.
Tony Yeo Joon Hock
Prof. Tony Yeo is currently Associate Professor at the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering/Division of Thermal and Fluids Engineering, Singapore Nanyang Technological University. His research interests for the last 10 years has been in cardiovascular engineering. He has won several international and local awards for his innovation in prosthetic heart valve. Currently, Prof. Yeo is researching on arterial pulse waveform and non-invasive blood glucose monitoring. A graduate of Strathclyde, UK with 1st class Honours, he subsequently obtained his PhD from Imperial College, University of London. He joined Singapore Nanyang Technological University in 1990.
